from our website. With a “My Energy Account” you can track your
energy usage, sign up for a variety of services, and report a
power outage. It only takes a few moments to
set-up your account.
Contact center employees are available 24/7 to assist with any gas or
electric emergencies, help you start, transfer and discontinue service,
as well as address billing, payment or service-related questions.
Language interpreter services are available.
Currently our walk-in offices – located in Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska – are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but once we reopen, Customer Associates can help you start,
transfer or discontinue service. They can accept and process cash payments,
and assist with questions regarding billing, payments, service

Billing Options
The Third Party Notification service allows a customer to designate a third party
to receive notification of termination of services. A notification of
termination of services is issued when utility services are in jeopardy of
being disconnected. The Third Party is not responsible for utility charges
billed to the customer.
The customer is not required by law, administrative rule, or NorthWestern
Energy to complete this form to receive utility service.
The Third Party Notification service does not modify in any way NorthWestern
Energy's liability, if any, for property damage that may result from disconnection
of utility service.
To enroll in the Third Party Notification service, the customer must complete
an enrollment form in its
entirety including the signature of the Third Party, sign it and submit it
via email at contactcenter@northwestern.com,

We are committed to providing accurate and timely bills. Most NorthWestern Energy customers have automated
meter reading technology, which allows us to obtain actual meter readings from a company vehicle.
However, at times we may need to manually read some meters.
To ensure the safety of service personnel please keep animals restrained or confined when a NorthWestern
Energy employee is at your property; clear ice/snow from walks and steps; have meters free of
obstacles or debris; keep the path to the meter free of hazards; if there is ice buildup on your gas
meter, call NorthWestern Energy.
If a meter reader is unable to safely access a meter to obtain a read, your energy usage will be estimated.
